Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Makeup Review

A first-hand review of Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals foundation, blush, and brushes. I decided to try Bare Minerals after watching their infomercial and was intrigued by their claim that their makeup was natural, offered great coverage, and was great for your skin. However, I ended up finding out that these ‘claims’ were just that-taglines the company used that were not, for me, founded in fact.

Color Options

The first problem I ran into while trying Bare Minerals was there lack of one color that matched my skin tone. I have light skin, but have never before had problems finding one shade that matched my skin before, and I’ve been wearing makeup since I was 13.

However, my skin seemed to be in between two different shades, so in order to get a color that blended in with my skin I had mix two different foundation shades together every day! This was not only a hassle and a minor waste of time, but also ended up doubling the cost of foundation for me because I had to pay for two separate shades.

When I asked the saleswoman at the Bare Escentuals store about this, she said it was uncommon to have to mix two shades to get a good match, but I know that the same thing has happened to a few female friends of mine who tried their foundation, so it doesn’t seem uncommon to me. I was also frustrated with color options because their bronzer product, “Warmth”, was too dark for me, and it only comes in one shade so I couldn’t buy a bronzer from them.
